Karoonda Shuffle

Walk, run or drive past this impressive installation to see the optical illusion of movement – or ‘shuffling’ - it creates.

The Karoonda Shuffle was erected on six old silo pads as a tribute to the Mallee district’s significant grain industry.

Found along Karoonda's Railway Terrace, together they represent the six months (or so) of the grain growing season – from seeding to harvest.

The best way to view the silhouette shapes and create the shuffle effect is to walk or jog around and through the installation.

Take notice of how the shapes interact with each other, against the sky and background, how the light and shadow effects change throughout the day and seasons.

The installation is also illuminated, so you can explore it at night.
